In 2025, Mexarts reached an important milestone—our 30th anniversary.
Over the past three decades, we have always looked outward, engaging the world through design-led dialogue. By working closely with partners who share our respect for design and quality, we have sought to create spaces and products not meant to impress at first glance, but to endure, and to resonate long after they are experienced.
The East lies at the very heart of Mexarts’ aesthetic foundation. The cross-cultural resonance revealed itself early on. Master designer Hans J. Wegner, for example, was deeply inspired by the graceful curves of Ming-dynasty horseshoe chairs and by the beauty of mortise-and-tenon construction—strength achieved without the use of nails. From this understanding emerged timeless works such as the China Chair and the Y Chair.
We believe that structure itself can be an expression of beauty. At Mexarts, we continue to learn from this philosophy, and from the spirit of Chinese aesthetics—the emotional depth, the sense of balance, and the value of what is left unsaid. These ideas shape how our products and spaces breathe, and how they carry meaning beyond form.
For thirty years, we have also been rooted in Japan. Working closely with local craftsmen, we have come to deeply respect the discipline of minimalism and the shokunin spirit—the quiet pursuit of perfection. We learned to see the quiet strength in solid wood—its grain, its imperfections, its sense of time—and to honor it through uncompromising craftsmanship. I believe furniture should not only last, but grow warmer with use, revealing a life of its own as years pass.
Denmark, on the other hand, brought a human-centered way of thinking and a more open global perspective to Mexarts. By integrating Scandinavian ergonomics and organic design with Eastern aesthetics, we have created original works that balance artistic expression with a sense of timeless universality.
Through the resonance of these cultures, a distinctive Mexarts aesthetic has taken shape - one that brings together the harmony between nature and humanity found in Chinese philosophy, the clarity and simplicity of Danish design, and the Japanese pursuit of perfection in craftsmanship. The result is a set of aesthetic solutions that respond to the diverse needs of commercial spaces around the world—where different cultures transcend time and geography, and come alive together within a single space.
Our work goes beyond the fusion of culture and aesthetics. We are committed to delivering comprehensive interior design solutions for our clients. Our product team approaches materials and structures through an aesthetic lens, carefully balancing cost and quality to to create lasting value. Our interior design team works closely with hotel and commercial concepts, supporting projects and designers as a trusted partner through thoughtful selection and planning.
Supported by the collaboration of these two professional teams, and through creative partnerships with designers from Denmark, Japan, and beyond, we have brought our solutions to life in high-end hotels and commercial spaces across the United States, Australia, Japan, and China. Projects such as the Starbucks Reserve Roasteries in Tokyo, Shanghai, New York, and Chicago have reaffirmed our belief that truly good design can serve as a shared language across cultures. I believe this is one of the reasons Mexarts continues to be a trusted partner for high-end projects and designers around the world.
As we reflect on these thirty years, we feel deep gratitude for the trust and dedication of our partners and our team. Because of this shared commitment, we now stand at a new beginning with confidence. We believe that commercial spaces are vessels that receive and carry human emotion across cultures, and that our solutions serve as an essential link—connecting designers’ creativity, brand values, and the hearts of those who experience the space.
I have always believed that meaningful work, like culture itself, transcends time and place, and reaches people on a deeply human level.
As we look toward the next decade, Mexarts hopes to continue working alongside partners who value quality, warmth, and integrity, creating new stories of space, life, and beauty—together.
