As the first dining project in Yamagata Prefecture developed under the Park-PFI system—an initiative that introduces private-sector participation into the operation of public facilities—KASUMI TERRACE stands as a landmark example of public–private collaboration. The restaurant officially opened in July 2025.
Project information:
Location:
1-12-1 Kasumicho, Yamagata-shi, Yamagata, Japan
Interior Design: Eiji Yoshida (BALLON Design Studio)
Furniture Partner: Mexarts Contract (partial furniture supply for the project)
During its soft-opening period, the project was featured in a special report by YTS Yamagata Television. Related coverage can be found by searching “Yamagata Station Front Park New Exchange Facility” on Yahoo Japan.
As the furniture solution provider for this project, Mexarts delivered end-to-end services covering furniture design, production, and delivery. We placed particular emphasis on ensuring commercial durability and adaptability across diverse functional scenarios. Highlighted among the pieces is the “Walden” dining chair, designed by Danish designer Henrik Pedersen. Its gentle enveloping form and clean lines create a high-quality, sustainable dining experience for visitors.
